Organization of the elbow joint

 

Synovial joint of hinge variety. Its cavity communicates with that of the proximal radio-ulna joint, a reason that the two are at times referred to as the ‘elbow joint complex'.

Articular surfaces

  • Capitulum and trochlea of distal humerus
  • Radial head and trochlea fossa of ulna
